Western Engineering
I came to Western as a Schulich Leader, one of Canada's most competitive STEM scholarships. Mechatronics sits right where I like to work: mechanical design, electronics, and the control code that makes a machine actually move. Right now that means dynamics, embedded systems, and feedback control, most of which ends up tested on my robotic arm.
Ivey Business School
I'm doing the HBA alongside engineering as a dual degree. Ivey teaches almost entirely through cases, so most days you're handed a real company's problem, have a few hours to make a call, and then defend it to a section of 70 people. It's taught me to think about operations, finance, and people as carefully as I think about tolerances.
02 — Work
Running a shop, working in one, and starting my own.
Makerspace Manager · Woodworking, Machining & Prototyping
I'm leading the wood, machining, and prototyping shop at Western's new Morrissette Makerspaces, taking it from a partly equipped room to a working community shop. That covers designing the shop layout, choosing and installing the equipment, managing the budget, writing the safety program, training students from every faculty, and hiring the team that runs it.
Manufacturing Intern · Seasonal · 2025 & 2026
I spent two summers in a Mennonite cabinet shop learning finish carpentry from master craftsmen. I taught myself to run the plant's Biesse CNC router and edge bander, then wrote a custom Fusion 360 post processor that opened up toolpaths the stock workflow couldn't produce. By the end of my second summer I was building full kitchens on my own.
Founder · Custom Design & Fabrication
I ran my own design and fabrication business for more than 40 clients, taking every job from a napkin sketch to a finished piece: cottage signs, solid wood furniture, cutting boards, and a replica 1962 Stratocaster. I used CAD/CAM and CNC to take on work I couldn't do by hand, and milled standing deadwood into lumber to keep material costs down.
